Dixie Queen helps light up London for EE's 5G launch with Stormzy
Thames Luxury Charters was at the heart of the action as EE launched the UK's first 5G mobile network with an incredible event on the River Thames.
On the evening of 29 May 2019, superstar rapper Stormzy took to a floating stage in front of Tower Bridge as part of a huge promotional event for the next-generation mobile technology. But it was the TLC fleet which stole the show on the night!
Our grand vessel Dixie Queen hosted hundreds of invited guests as part of the launch, providing front row seats of the concert. She was suitably dressed for the occasion, with a special colour wrapping on her outside trim and branded spaces throughout both decks.
Butler's Wharf Pier was also adorned with EE branding, while Edwardian was utilised as a photocall area and luxury floating green room for Stormzy and his team.
Ahead of Stormzy's performance Dixie Queen made the short journey up river to give guests their fabulous view, with Tower Bridge opening up to make way for her. Thousands more watched the live set from the banks of the river and on the YouTube live stream, which concluded with an explosive firework display.
The after-party aboard Dixie Queen continued long into the night, as guests enjoying fabulous cuisine and entertainment to round off an unforgettable evening on the Thames. The entire occasion went off without a hitch, with all marine logistics managed by the special events team at our sister company, Livett’s.
